How tracking works

Activity in. Answers out.

The desktop agent and browser extensions send activity to Time Progress, where it is classified as productive, neutral or unproductive and fed into every dashboard, report and payroll run.

All in one

Six tools. One workspace.

Tracking, meetings, attendance, reports, payroll and AI insights all run on the same activity data — so nothing is entered twice.

Inside the platform

One workspace for time, people and pay.

Pick a module to see what it does.

Dashboard

The whole team’s day, at a glance.

Switch between today, this week, last month or any custom range, and see the workspace or a single person depending on your role.

  • Active time, idle time, productivity score and uncategorised %
  • Top apps, window titles, domains and categories
  • Category tree and sunburst charts
  • Live device status — online, offline, last seen
  • Team timeline and per-app timeline
Meeting detection

Every call counted — without a calendar.

The agent recognises call windows and logs meeting time automatically, even when the keyboard is quiet.

  • Teams, Zoom, Meet, Webex, Skype, GoTo, BlueJeans, Slack huddles
  • Total meeting time, count and average duration
  • Hourly and weekly meeting breakdown
  • Idle overlap detection and app usage during meetings
  • Idle override while a Teams or Zoom call is active
Attendance & schedules

Shifts, attendance and offline time in one grid.

Set recurring or one-off shifts per person and compare them with when people actually started.

  • Day, week, month or custom attendance views
  • Present, absent, late and partial statuses
  • Recurring weekly and one-off schedules, timezone-aware
  • Offline time requests with approve / reject
  • CSV export of attendance data
Reports

Six reports, filtered by date and person.

Every report exports to CSV and has a print layout. Project & Tasks also exports to PDF.

  • Hours worked per user per day
  • Productivity and attendance reports
  • App usage and website usage (by host)
  • Project & Tasks report with project filter
  • Weekly timesheet summary emailed automatically
Payroll

Pay runs calculated from attendance.

Set each person’s rate and rules once. Time Progress computes the run, you review it, then send payslips.

  • Hourly, daily, monthly or yearly rates per person
  • Overtime and short-hour adjustment rules
  • Editable manual adjustment per person
  • Previous runs lock when a new run is created
  • Payslip emails sent per run
AI insights

A daily read-out for every person.

Generate one person’s daily report or the whole team’s in bulk, with a written summary of how the day went.

  • Productivity score and focus score
  • Burnout risk and top distraction
  • Narrative summaries via Azure OpenAI
  • Built-in fallback summaries when AI is not configured
  • AI-assisted category building
Built in

The details that make tracking trustworthy.

Screenshots

Screenshots with context

Optional periodic screenshots with blur, a visibility delay (15 minutes by default) and an overlay showing the app, title, URL and activity level. Assign any stretch of time to a project or task.

Category builder

Your rules, your categories

Categorise discovered apps and sites in bulk, write regex rules, or let AI suggest categories — so “productive” means what it means for your team.

Desktop agent

Tray icon and floating timer

An always-visible tray icon and a draggable floating panel with a live timer, pause button and project/task picker.

Projects & tasks

Time by project and task

Projects with members, tasks and weekly or monthly time limits — plus auto-detection of projects from activity.

Email automation

Weekly summary, sent for you

On the last day of your week, each person gets tracked hours, productive time, score, hours by project and a category chart.

Team management

Nine roles, one directory

Invite by email with a role, manage pending invites, edit profiles and payroll details, and see each person’s devices, projects and login history.

Devices

Works offline, syncs later

The agent buffers activity and screenshots when the connection drops and syncs as soon as it is back. Revoke any device in one click.

Public API

Your data, via API

Create API keys with read or write scopes and pull users, devices, activity and daily aggregates into your own tools.

Live components

Every number, alive on screen.

A closer look at the pieces of Time Progress your team sees every day.

Live timer

Today’s monitored time in the tray and floating panel — it never counts backwards.

Productivity score

Productive, neutral and unproductive time rolled into one score per person or team.

Hours worked

Per-person, per-day hours with CSV export and a print-ready layout.

Live device status

See which agents are online, when each was last seen and today’s tracked time.

Automatic events

Meetings, idle pauses, offline sync, approvals and summary emails happen on their own.

Shifts & schedules

Recurring or one-off shifts, timezone-aware, with an after-hours state outside them.

Input activity

Keystrokes, clicks and mouse moves counted as totals — never what was typed.

Offline buffer

Activity and screenshots are stored locally and sync the moment you reconnect.

Multi-factor sign-in

TOTP codes protect the web app and the desktop agent sign-in.

FAQ

Answers, before you ask.

The six things teams ask most before getting started.

01What is Time Progress?Product

Time Progress is an AI-powered time tracking and productivity analytics platform for teams. A desktop agent and browser extensions capture app, window, website, idle and meeting activity, which Time Progress classifies and turns into dashboards, attendance, reports, payroll and AI insights.

02Do people still need to fill in timesheets?Product

No. Tracking runs automatically in the background across apps, websites and meetings. If someone works away from their computer, they can submit an offline time request for a manager to approve or reject.

03Does Time Progress capture keystrokes or passwords?Privacy

No. Keystrokes, clicks and mouse moves are counted as totals only. The agent never captures keystroke content, passwords, clipboard, file contents, webcam, microphone or location.

04Do employees know they are being tracked?Privacy

Yes. The installer asks for consent, a monitoring disclosure is shown on first run, and a tray icon is always visible with today’s monitored time. Monitoring can be paused from the tray or the floating panel.

05Which platforms are supported?Platforms

A desktop agent for Windows, macOS and Linux, browser extensions for Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and the web app for managers and admins. On Windows you can use the installer or a portable ZIP.

06Is there a free trial?Pricing
